St. John Kochurov came to America in the early 20th century and served St. Vladimir Church (now Holy Trinity OCA Cathedral) as its first permanent pastor. He went back to Russia and became the first clergy martyr of the Bolshevik Revolution in October of 1917.

On the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 6, 1986, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Philip Koufos prepared to serve the Divine Liturgy for the patronal feast of St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church. St. Tikhon, Patriarch and Confessor of Moscow and Enlightener of America, consecrated what is now Holy Trinity (OCA) Cathedral in Chicago, in 1903. As Patriarch of Moscow, he was a martyr for the faith under the godless Communist regime.
